Paris is making significant progress in cleaning up the River Seine and aims to make it suitable for swimming by the 2024 Summer Olympics. This achievement would be a remarkable transformation for a river that was once notorious for its pollution. The clean Seine would allow Paris to host aquatic events and take advantage of its iconic river landscape. Furthermore, the city plans to establish permanent bathing facilities at five locations along the river, including popular areas such as the Eiffel Tower and the Bois de Boulogne park.
By 2025, the network of swimming spots is expected to expand, creating up to 23 additional locations in the Seine and its upstream tributary, the Marne, across the Greater Paris region.
