You’ve heard it before: cities represent 2% of the earth’s surface, but are responsible for 60%+ of CO2 emissions. And global population will increase by 2.5 BILLION PEOPLE (!!) in the next 25 years. Little more needs to be said to accelerate a complete rethinking of how cities should operate – it is either this or… well, or no future for cities at all.
So the race for smarter infrastructures is booming as it should. Lowering its carbon footprint is on top of every public administration agenda, with the added challenge of becoming resource-efficient and providing better services to citizens.
