How to plan wiping out all carbon emissions and keep going.

Microsoft is accelerating progress toward a more sustainable future by reducing environmental footprint, accelerating research, helping customers build sustainable solutions and advocating for policies that benefit the environment. It focuses on the areas where it can have the greatest impact, which include carbon, ecosystems, water, and waste across all the work it does.

Microsoft has been carbon neutral across the world since 2012 and commits to being carbon negative by 2030. Its goal is to promote sustainable development and low-carbon business practices globally through its sustainable business practices and cloud-enabled technologies. As for ecosystems, Microsoft is building the tools and services to help anyone, anywhere better understand the ecosystem around them today, and monitor and model impacts from climate or human behavior. It takes responsibility for land footprint by committing to permanently protect and restore a healthy planet and more land than we use by 2025.

In addition, Microsoft is creating and employing tools to help address the world’s water challenges including scarcity, pollution, and ocean health. It’s committed to reducing consumption and replenishing water in the regions it operates. Eventually, it thinks every device should be made with an emphasis on sustainability and aims to continually improve all of its products. At its facilities, it eliminates waste through material reuse and recycling, and reduces material source consumption. All waste is treated with environmentally responsible methods.
