Google has launched a new citizen-science, AI-powered platform in collaboration with marine biologists to preserve coral reefs.
The "Calling in our Corals" initiative has collected sounds of marine life from 10 coral reefs around the world using water-optimized microphones. The platform gamifies the audio recordings for web visitors to identify and help preserve marine life. This initiative allows anyone with a digital connection to participate in the preservation of coral reefs from their couch, mitigating the impact of climate change, pollution, overfishing, and disease.
